As a Korean who grew up in Seoul for 16 years, it’s one thing I miss dearly when I’m back in NYC.
Sure, I have access to my city-sized Dollar Tree…
But Daiso Korea really can’t compare!
The store is clean and brightly lit. There’s a real variety of products, from travel-sized tinctures to camping gear.
With that, let’s dive into the 20 best Daiso products you can’t miss!
Is Daiso Korean?
Daiso Korea is a fully Korean-owned company.
Founder Park Jung-bu opened the first dollar store chain under the name Asung in 1997.
A few years later in 2001, Asung entered into a joint venture with Daiso Japan and began opening stores under the Daiso brand.
In December 2023, the largest shareholder (Asung HMP) bought out Daiso Japan’s 34.21% ownership stake and dissolved the JV.
As a result, the company became Korean-owned again.
