Check out my guide to the best coffee shops in Hannam, a hip neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea!
Hannam is bustling with cute cafes, from the artsy kind, to places with incredible desserts and the nuttiest, richest coffee.

Enjoy a pick-me-up cup of coffee after checking out the art museums or shopping at the classy boutiques and lifestyle stores in Hannam-dong.
Hannam is a boujee residential neighborhood and a lovely place to enjoy refined culture.

Get me oriented in Hannam!
The Hannam-dong area is in the center of Seoul. Hannam is north of the Han River, which splits the city in half.

This neighborhood is located at the end of Itaewon, a shopping hub influenced by American culture (it was home to the biggest US base in Seoul before it relocated outside of Seoul in 2018).
Hannam is an affluent neighborhood, so it makes sense that it’s full of the flagship stores of classy and higher-end brands.

Recently, though, the area near Hangangjin Station has become a trendy shopping hub for young Korean locals.
With that backdrop, let’s dive into the 15 best coffee shops in Hannam!
15 Best Coffee Shops in Hannam
Vibey Cafes in Hannam
1. Hannam Atelier (한남작업실)
Artist Huh Myoungwook’s Hannam workshop is one of my favorite cafes, period.
Nestled among Hannam townhouses, this hidden gem used to be a house, too.
Huh’s work is everywhere – from the lacquered, muted retro cups, to the large painting across the reclaimed wooden table and his iconic Astro Boy figurines.
This hidden gem is a wonder starting with the entrance. Walk up the mysterious concrete steps surrounded by thick shrubs of ivy.
You’ll arrive at a lovely outdoor terrace with round clusters of hydrangea that looks down onto a quiet alleyway.
Address: 7 Itaewon-ro 55na-gil, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
2. Anthracite Coffee Roasters (앤트러사이트 한남점)
Anthracite Coffee Hannam is a spacious three-storey coffee shop that’s retained the character of the old building that it’s built in – exposed concrete, large windows and all.
They’re serious about coffee and roast their beans every morning. You can pick from five different coffee beans, including beans from Ethiopia and Kenya to Brazil and Indonesia.
You can order and enjoy the outdoor seating on the 1st floor. My favorite is the second floor, which has an indoor garden smack in the middle, full of lush monsteras and rattlesnake plants.
Address: 240 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
3. Day Row (데이로우)
Day Row is the perfect neighborhood little nook that fits Hannam’s calmer, residential vibe.
The outdoor seating is limited but lovely and peaceful, with trees and greenery.
You can pick the coffee beans of your choice here. Pair your cup of joe with one of their cakes – I love the distinct sweetness of the Pumpkin Cheesecake, which is thick and lined with a brownie bottom.
For butter lovers, Day Row has excellent scones and Victoria Sponge Cake slathered with homemade raspberry jam and fabulous butter cream (7,500 KRW, 5.50 USD).
Day Row is just a stone’s throw from Leeum Museum, one of Korea’s leading art museums. I’d highly recommend you check both out 🙂
Address: 14-3 Itaewon-ro 49-gil, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
4. Euphoria Coffee Roasters (유포리아 커피로스터스)

Euphoria is a corner cafe in a brick building that has reliable coffee and sweet bites. It’s these charming cafes that make Hannam the neighborhood that it is.
While the coffee bean selection is updated periodically, there’s typically two beans to pick from – one that’s more acidic and another that’s more nutty.

The sliding doors with large windows are drawn wide open in warm weather. Step inside and enjoy the minimalist white decor.
The Peanut Creamy Latte 🥜 (6,500 KRW, 5 USD) is a fun option for all you peanut butter lovers out there (I can’t be the only one who eats spoonfuls as a snack..)
Address: 58-3 Itaewon-ro 54-gil, Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
5. Sansuhwa Tea House (산수화티하우스)
Sansuhwa is a traditional tea house offering a premium selection of teas from Korea, China and Taiwan in a calm, comfortable setting. The table looking out onto the small terrace is especially peaceful and light-filled.
Try the Korean Organic Jadalm Yellow Tea (13,000 KRW), which has warm notes of cocoa.
You’ll be served with proper teaware, which is also available for sale. If you’re not super familiar with tea, worry not – the friendly tea masters will guide you through how long to steep your tea for the best flavor.
While reserving ahead of time is not compulsory, it might buy you a little more time at the cafe during busier periods.
There’s a minimum order of one tea per person at Sansuhwa.
Address: 68-27 Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
6. Café Le Sens Sounds Hannam (카페 르상스 사운즈한남)

On a nice, sunny day, come out to Café Le Sens’ outdoor patio and lounge about with a coffee in one hand and their big, puffy salt bread in the other.

Le Sens’ terrace isn’t exposed to the streets, so you can enjoy yourself without being bothered by passersby and traffic.

Café Le Sens offers Japanese tea master Ogawa Takayuki’s blends, prepared in the way of his traditional practice, including a deeply flavorful Matcha Latte (7,500 KRW, 5.60 USD) and savory Hoji Tea that’s roasted but lacks bitterness (both 7,000 KRW, 5.20 USD).

7. Crate Coffee (크레이트커피)

Crate Coffee is a loft-style cafe with exposed concrete pillars and delicious coffee, pastries and cakes. I love all the artwork hung up near the entrance.
Crate often has more art around their coffee shop – check out their IG for recent exhibitions.

This cafe is very spacious and there’s plenty of seating, both on the second floor as well as a wooden outdoor patio for the warmer months.
Crate is a solid place to work from home, given that there’s a lot of outlets and smaller tables. But a majority of people are couples, friends and family that are chilling.

Address: 33-4 Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
8. Tartine Bakery Seoul Hannam (타르틴베이커리 한남점)

Tartine’s pies and desserts are incredible.
I still dream about that Banana Cream Tart (12,000 KRW, 9 USD)… The pie crust is made from distinct layers and is satisfyingly crispy against the nurturing, addicting cream. There’s tons of banana inside, and the slightly bitter caramel on the bottom gives off a delicious, mature finish.

Tartine is an SF bakery and its first location is in the Mission, which I’ve been to and love too 🥹Beyond the Bay, Tartine now has 6 locations in LA and another 6 in Seoul, although this Hannam location is my favorite.
I love that it’s a loft-style coffee shop with high ceilings, warm lighting and adorned with their classic round paper lanterns.
Their coffee delivers, too.
Address: 22 Hannam-daero 18-gil, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
9. AVEK CHERI (아벡쉐리)

Enjoy avèk chéri an incredible assortment of salt bread in this high-ceilinged coffee shop, where you can pick the coffee beans of your choice.

I grew up cooling down with the Melona honeydew-flavored ice cream bar. The Melon Salt Bread is an ode to those memories. This salt bread is topped with a bright green, honeydew soboro, or crumble.

I’d recommend the version with melon cream (5,800 KRW, 4.30 USD), but if that’s too much for you, you can get it without (5,000 KRW, 3.70 USD).
What you might not know is that Koreans often incorporate pieces of corn into bread 🙈Well, I guess Americans eat cornbread, too.

You’ll find chewy, salty corn kernels embedded in between the layers of the Super Sweet Corn Salt Bread (5,300 KRW, 4 USD).
Address: 247 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
10. Old Ferry Donut (올드페리도넛 한남점)
Satiate your sweet tooth with Old Ferry’s viral donuts which are bursting at the seams with decadent cream.
Some say you can’t buy happiness, but I’d say you can buy temporary happiness with Old Ferry’s Creme Brulee (4,500 KRW, 3.30 USD) and Peanut Butter (5,500 KRW, 4 USD) donuts.
They say donut shops have good coffee, and Old Ferry Donut is no exception. Wash all of it down with a good ol’ Americano (4,500 KRW, 3.30 USD).
Address: 66 Hannam-daero 27-gil, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
11. Narrow Path (네로우 패스)

A narrow path leads to this three-storey cafe in a former brick house, with amazing cookies and baked goods. You really can’t go wrong with their desserts, so beware: they frequently run low by lunchtime!

Order on the second floor of the cafe, complete with cracked concrete flooring and exposed brick details.

If you’re like me and love pie crust for the sake of it, indulge in a slice of Narrow Pie, a cinnamon-y apple crumble topped with pistachio ice cream (9,500 KRW, 7 USD).

Try it with the Narrow Coffee, which is a latte topped with a sweet and pillowy layer of cream (7,500 KRW, 5.50 USD). You can pick between two coffee bean varieties.

Address: 38-4 Itaewon-ro 42-gil, Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea

12. Peer Coffee Bar (피어커피 바)

This small but light-filled espresso bar offers delicious coffee in a minimalist setting.
Try the Espresso con panna, or espresso with cream (5,000 KRW) and a Plain Butter Bar (5,500 KRW, 3.70 USD) and you won’t regret it! If you need a bit of an energy boost, I’d get the sweet Mango Sherbet (5,500 KRW, 4 USD).

Do note, you can only enjoy non-espresso drinks as to-go orders, so if you’re more so in the mood for a latte or the like you might consider somewhere else.

You can see Namsan Tower from this hidden gem, which is perched on a hill (the walk there is a little arduous as it’s uphill… but I promise, it’s worth it!).
Address: South Korea, Seoul, Yongsan District, Hannam-daero 10-gil, 36 1/F
13. Milestone Coffee (마일스톤 커피 한남점)
Milestone is a hip cafe famous for their rich and deeply flavorful coffee. Pick the beans of your choice and treat yourself to a Vienna Coffee topped with soft cream (6,500 KRW) or their signature Aussie Flat White (5,500 KRW).
A bold and full-bodied coffee isn’t complete without an equally buttery and sugary dessert. Milestone’s iconic Homemade Tiramisu, which is made to order (7,500 KRW, 5.50 USD) and hot-and-cold Brownie Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream (8,000 KRW, 6 USD) are sure to please.
This local favorite can get busy, so do expect a wait during the weekend and peak hours. There’s outdoor seating, too.
Address: South Korea, Seoul, Yongsan District, Hannam-daero 27ga-gil, 26 1/F
14. Hit Coffee Roasters (히트커피로스터스 한남)
Hit Coffee Roasters has an extensive list of filtered coffees to pick from, all in a cozy venue with lovely, pet-friendly outdoor seating.
The coffee beans are on display and you can get a whiff before you make your final decision. Pair your cup with Hit Coffee’s jiggly Custard Vanilla Pudding (6,000 KRW, 4.50 USD).
Consider bringing your laptop with you, because several of the indoor tables have easy access to outlets.
Address: 683-137 Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
15. Blue Bottle (블루 보틀 한남 카페)
Ahh, the Oakland, California-founded Blue Bottle craze has long hit Korea, too, since opening its first location in Seongsu-dong back in 2019.
This location has high ceilings and tons of light flows from its floor-to-ceiling windows. Plus it has everything good you’d expect from a Blue Bottle, like their strong and tasty coffee, friendly service and inviting vibes.
Address: 91 Hannam-daero, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea
