This article is all about the Best Vintage Shops in Greenwich Village!

Greenwich Village is one of the youngest and trendiest neighborhoods in NYC. You can feel the influence of the NYU college students, who you’ll easily spot walking around.
Greenwich Village is arguably one of the best places to go clothes shopping in NYC.
I think of Greenwich Village as the cool little sister of the more mature SoHo, which has higher-end, more luxury brands. While Greenwich Village has its fair share of boutiques and global brand flagship stores, it also has some of the best thrift stores in NYC!

Best Vintage Shops in Greenwich Village
1. Crossroads Trading: Best overall secondhand shop

Crossroads is my favorite of all the Greenwich Village thrift stores because it has cute but practical clothing at bargain prices for quality brands!
There’s a wide selection of women’s and men’s clothing.
Some treasures found include a Theory women’s blazer with the tag on going for $37 (originally $425), Madewell jeans for $22.50, Acme thin wool pants for $65, Ralph Lauren pants for $24, and a Helmut Lang t-shirt for $37.50.
The quality of the pieces vary. There are a lot of new and gently worn pieces, as well as more worn pieces.
2. Beacon’s Closet: Best for stylish & eclectic statement pieces

Beacon’s Closet is the place to go if you’re looking for a cute vintage statement piece or to spruce up your closet. There’s a pretty stylish selection of items, and you can find bargains on pieces from higher-end brands.
Beacon’s Closet has a ton of items and variety, but it’s not the best organized, so you will have to hunt through to find your size and type of item. There’s tons of dresses, blouses, jewelry, sunglasses and shoes.
Example finds include a Isabel Marant short dress for $70, a Sézane glittery black top for $50, True Religion jeans for $30 and Stuart Weitzman silver glittery heels for $55.
The quality of items varies, from new to well worn.
Note that the store is always pretty busy, and it can feel a bit cramped in there. I would go with a mission in mind!
3. The Re:Shop: Best for long-lasting, quality men’s clothing

The Re:Shop is a hip vintage shop with a great men’s selection. It’s got a practical, everyday-appropriate selection of quality items and recognized brands.
While there’s fewer items than some vintage and secondhand shops, it’s very well-curated and highly organized. Quality over quantity, as they say!
Quality finds include Carhartt pants for $40 and vintage t-shirts starting at $24, which included a few Harley-Davidson shirts. There was a whole rack of polo shirts, as well as Patagonia and North Face fleeces. There was a large selection of leather jackets, as well as jean jackets from brands including Levi’s.
I loved the retro decor. There’s a Pac-Man arcade machine at the entrance, which you can play for free!

If you’re looking for a Greenwich village record store, there’s a small selection of records, too!

The back of the store, where the changing rooms are, is a massive collage of old magazine spreads, and it’s super picturesque.

I would definitely recommend checking out The Re:Shop for both its clothing and for its vibe and decor! If you’re a woman or smaller-framed, you could still find something if you’re going for a baggy jacket, for example.
4. Screaming Mimis Vintage: Best for costume and party outfits

Screaming Mimis has a premium selection of secondhand items. It’s the best vintage shop to find good quality costume and party outfits.
Prices are on the higher side. I found dresses at around $125, corduroy pants for $110, a $65 polo shirt and $50 t-shirts.
Brands include Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Ferregamo, White Stag and Anne Klein.
Screaming Mimis is super well-organized by theme and by era. Clothing categories included decades like the 1960s, 1980s prom and the 1990s. Categories included bridal and fantasy.
Where does the name Screaming Mimis come from? Apparently the original owner and her friend worked in fashion in the 80s, and while they were chatting away, someone yelled, “Who are those screaming Mimis?” Those two friends then left that company and founded their very own vintage shop named Screaming Mimis. A girl boss story!
The quality of the secondhand pieces ranged from medium to good. Screaming Mimis also sells new items.
5. Reminiscence: Best for retro gifts & knick-knacks

Going to Reminiscence feels like you’re going back in time. While you might not find trendy brands like at most Greenwich Village vintage shops, you’ll be able to find pieces that scream that vintage look.
There’s vintage fur coats, corduroy pants and more. Many of the items are in the $30-60 range. Quality is on the mid to low side, and most of the items are women’s pieces.

There’s also a selection of thrifted costumes, as well as new wigs and colorful tights that could go with your look.
What everyone might find interesting though, is the selection of vintage and retro-inspired knick-knacks, like handheld toy games, lava lamps and jewelry.
Reminiscence feels like a hidden gem, left out in the open. Check out one of the coolest, funkiest shops in Greenwich Village!
